What we collect

When you create an account:

• Email address
• Name (as you enter it)
• Profile photo (optional)
• Date of birth (optional, used for birthday features)
• Pronouns (optional, used to address you correctly within the app)

When you use the app:

• Content you create: notes, voice messages, photos, game responses, ritual answers, picks, moments, bucket list items, memories
• App activity: which features you use, when you last opened the app, streaks and connection scores
• Push notification token (used only to send you notifications from your connections)
• Crash and error data (used to fix bugs)

We do not collect:

• Your device contacts or contact list
• Your location
• Your browsing history outside this app
• Any financial information (payments are handled by Apple or Google directly)

How we use it

We use your data to operate the app — to show you your connections, deliver notifications, save your content, and calculate connection stats like streaks and warmth scores.

We do not use your data for advertising. We do not build profiles for ad targeting. We do not sell your data to anyone.

Who we share it with

We share data with a small number of service providers who help us run the app:

• Cloud infrastructure — to store your data securely
• File storage — to host photos and voice messages
• Push notification services — to deliver notifications to your device

These providers process data only on our behalf and under our instructions. We do not share your personal data with third parties for their own purposes.

We may disclose data if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users.

Your data and your connections

When you connect with someone on Sorelia, certain information is visible to them — your name, profile photo, and content you share within your connection. This is the core function of the app. You control what you share.

Content shared within a connection is not visible to anyone outside that connection. Other users, including other people on Sorelia, cannot see your content.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we permanently delete all your personal data, connections, and content within 30 days. Some anonymised, aggregated data (e.g. total number of rituals completed) may be retained for internal analytics but cannot be linked back to you.

Security

We use industry-standard security practices: HTTPS/TLS for all data in transit, encryption at rest, and access controls limiting who on our team can access user data. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect yours.

Children

Sorelia is not intended for anyone under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If we learn that we have, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us at hello@sorelia.xyz.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Access the data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your data (you can do this directly by deleting your account in Settings)
• Export your data
• Object to certain processing

California residents (CCPA): We do not sell personal information. You have the right to know what we collect, request deletion, and opt out of any sale — though we do not engage in any.

EEA/UK residents (GDPR): Our legal basis for processing your data is the performance of a contract (operating the app for you) and your consent where applicable. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by email before the change takes effect. Continued use after that date means you accept the updated policy.
